Sony Unveils OLED-based Medical Monitor

Sony made an announcement that they have come up with their first medical grade monitor that has OLED technology. Sony said that they are really happy with their innovation and that this monitor is the world’s first medical grade monitor that has Organic Light Emitting Diode technology. Sony revealed that the 25 inch monitor has already received FDA 510(k) clearance and this monitor will soon be available in various hospitals and clinics around the world. The company said that this will help the medical professionals to see true to life colors, high resolution and virtually no motion blur when they are using the monitor.

The monitor has been evaluated by many surgeons inside and outside the United States and they have claimed that majority of them were happy with the color imaging and the high contrast quality of the screen. The company claims that this monitor is going to be a great use for applications like thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, endoscopy and arthroscopy. George Santanello, GM for Sony Medical Systems Division said that Sony is already showing that they have better technologies that can be used by various medical professionals to have better surgical view and many of the operating theatres should have this to have better treatment of their patients.
