Exploring the Reasons for the Drop in iPhone Sales

According to market research firm IDC, Apple’s smartphone sales fell 10 percent last quarter. The main reason for this is the rapid decline in iPhone sales in China.

The company has lost momentum in China due to factors such as nationalism, a challenging economy, and increasing competition, which have adversely affected Apple over the past several months.

Nabila Popal said this for Apple, this decline is significant because if you think about where we were in the last four years, Apple has probably been the most resilient brand. It has overcome supply chain issues and macroeconomic challenges more than other brands. Nabila Popal, IDC’s research director, conveyed this to CNN.

Samsung has been a smartphone manufacturer for the past 12 years. Apple took the crown last year, but only for one quarter. However, according to IDC’s report, Samsung regained the top spot in the first quarter of 2024.

Popal also mentioned that it is very important for Samsung to regain the top position. “This year, we are hoping that Android will grow twice as fast as iOS.” Android is the operating system used by Samsung, while iPhones use iOS.

The reason for this is that there has been a significant decline in Android over the past few years, so there is now more room for growth. Both Apple and Samsung did not respond to a request for comment.
